The Other Isms? A Child's Play.

Word play is the must used techniqued employed by amateur apologists. According to Wikipedia, word play is a literary technique in which the words that are used become the main subject of the work. Puns, phonetic mix-ups such as spoonerisms, obscure words and meanings, clever rhetorical excursions, oddly formed sentences.

Now here's a good example from one of those ADD blog site:

An ism means a belief (or system of beliefs) accepted as authoritative by some group or school.

John the Atheist: Uhhhh not really. The suffix "ism" doesn't mean belief per se. "ism" is just a suffix that connotes action or of state. It's also a modifier that indicates action, manner, condition, beliefs or prejudice.

Have you noticed the “resemblance” of the word “Atheism”? By means of “syncope” “Athenism” became “Atheism”, or you contest me of linguistic creation of words? This is just probability but who knows? Atheists have no firm foundations; they don;t have any ground of “common” belief.

John the Atheist: Gosh the guy became a little bonkers here when he began talking about atheism. I wonder why? Anyway, atheism has nothing to do with Athens...unless you're talking about travel plans.

Atheism is a word that came from the prefix "A" + theist (theo = Greek word means God or gods if plural) and the suffix "ism" = Not a believer of god or gods. Easy huh?

In phonetics, a syncope is the loss of one or more sounds from the interior of a word; especially, the loss of an unstressed vowel. So let see...according to this dog-tale, there is a resemblance of the word Athens to the word “Atheism”? By means of “syncope” “Athenism” became “Atheism”. But there is no word "athenism" in eh... Oh wait...there's one: The mission of the IAC is to promote Athenism throughout the world and to lead the Athenic Movement.

Golly! It's about sport!

Atheists have no firm foundations; they don;t have any ground of “common” belief.

Do atheists have no firm foundations? Not really. You see all atheists, regarding of what kind, don't believe in a god or gods.

Linguistic is a science, but if this useful knowledge was twisted by ADD apologist to fit their kind of mental function, it becomes a mind-less child play.

Hope that clears this ADD cant.

No amount of verbal stunts and acrobatics can undo the tie of atheism as another form of belief system. Note that ism as used to connote "action or of state". To emphasize the phrase "of state", however, differently stated is tantamount to a belief system. Simply because a belief is a state of mind. It would do well that you consult not only the dictionary but of utmost importance the diction or correct usage. So that you will not be misled by the interplay of multifarious definitions. Until then...

Oh hi carlyle.
Let see...who's doing the acrobatic act? Anyway, that's what happen when a person doesn't know the meaning of a "belief system".

Atheism is not a belief system simply because atheism is a single data point...just like theism. So let see....that means both theism and atheism is not a belief system.

So I think you need more than your pocket dictionary to know what constitute a belief system eh?
